2012 Winterfest in Gatlinburg

Winterfest GatlinburgThe holidays are quickly approaching, and so is Winterfest in Gatlinburg an annual tradition that transforms the city with an array of twinkling lights! You’re in luck if you’re planning to visit Gatlinburg between November and January because the calendar is packed with exciting events!

To kick off the holiday season, join the city of Gatlinburg for the annual Chili Cook-off which will be taking place on November 7th.

Taking place from November 7th to January 26th is the Trolley Ride of Lights. The Trolley Ride of Lights is a great way for visitors to get in the holiday spirit by taking a calming ride through the city of Gatlinburg. Tickets are priced at only $5.00 and they can be purchased in advance online.

Similar to the Trolley Ride of Lights is Gatlinburg’s Winter Magic, an environmentally friendly display of LED lights set up around the city. Winter Magic has themed displays, including a carefully crafted display of Smoky Mountain animals.

From November 20th to November 24th, come out and celebrate the Festival of Trees. The Festival of Trees takes place in the Gatlinburg Convention Center, where visitors will find a variety of beautifully decorated Christmas trees. *All proceeds will be given to a local organization.

If you have a love for art, don’t miss the Great Smoky Thanksgiving Arts and Crafts show where visitors can find and buy unique handmade gifts. The craft show will take place from November 21 to November 25th at the Convention Center. Also, don’t miss the Great Smoky Christmas Arts and Craft show, which takes place November 26th to December 2nd.

Winter Magic Tunes and Tales is one of the most unique events that Gatlinburg has to offer. The event takes place on Friday and Saturday evenings between November 23 and December 22nd. The event is free of cost, and those who attend get to enjoy Christmas music sung by carolers who are dressed in old Victorian costumes.

If you’re planning to bring in the new-year in Gatlinburg, celebrate by attending the 25th annual New Year’s Eve Ball Drop and Fireworks show. Taking place on December 31st, the show attracts couples who are looking for an exciting and romantic way to spend the evening together.
