To see the upper elevations and snow covered mountaintops without hiking, you can take a ride on the Ober Gatlinburg Aerial Tramway, the Gatlinburg Sky Lift or the Gatlinburg Space Needle.
Plan activities that will keep you warm.
If you don’t want to spend time wandering around outside in the winter weather, plan to spend some time at indoor attractions. There’s many places that even couples like to visit to spend time together, like visiting the wineries along the Rocky Top Wine Trail or going out to eat for a romantic dinner at a restaurant like The Peddler Steakhouse or The Melting Pot of Gatlinburg.
Take a drive in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Another romantic outing that will keep you warm is to take a drive through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. You can get some of the most stunning views of the Smokies from the driver’s seat! The most popular drive is along Newfound Gap Road, but many also enjoy the Cades Cove Loop Road auto tour.
Stop in at a visitor center before you take your driving tour and you can pick up a small pamphlet for just $1 that will tell you everything about the auto tour, including specific sites to see when you’re riding along.
