6 Easy Steps to Have a Healthy Vacation to the Great Smoky Mountains

Believe it or not, a vacation to the Great Smoky Mountains is a great way to stay healthy as we approach the holiday season. Typically, when people think of taking a vacation, they imagine heavy meals and lots of downtime, but when you visit the Smokies, this isn’t the case. When you stay here for a relaxing vacation in the Smoky Mountain National Park , you can stay healthy and even improve your wellbeing. Here’s a few things you can do to make your vacation just a little more healthy:

1. Hiking in the Smoky Mountains

Hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a great way to get out and enjoy the outdoors while packing a little exercise into your vacation. Many people plan to spend at least one day in the national park, so go ahead and schedule some extra time to get out and explore! It’s always difficult to schedule time to work out or visit a gym when you’re on vacation, but when you stay in the Smokies, the mountains are in your back yard.

2. Drink Plenty of Water

Many people forget to drink plenty of water when they’re on vacation. Especially if you’ll be hiking, you need to make sure you grab that extra bottle of water before hitting the trails. Making sure to stay hydrated while you’re on vacation is important to keep you focused and feeling great throughout your stay.

3. Pack for Meals

When you stay in one of the beautiful Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge cabin rentals, you will notice the fully stocked kitchen area. This way, instead of dining out for each meal during your stay, you can stay in and enjoy the Smoky Mountains while cooking up your own, healthy meal.

There are plenty of grocery and convenience stores only a couple of minutes from our cabins. So, if you need anything to prepare your meal, you can make a quick stop at the store before returning to your cabin rental.

4. Spend Time with Friends and FamilyFamily having a picnic in the mountains

Spending quality time with your friends and family is one of the best ways to relax while you’re away. Many people take their vacation to the Great Smoky Mountains just for that quality family time. Whether you’re relaxing in your cabin or exploring the Great Smoky Mountains National Park , there’s hundreds of places to spend time together.

5. Get Extra Sleep

One of the most important things about vacationing is making sure you get plenty of sleep. Getting enough sleep is crucial to making sure you’re well rested and ready for a new day. Spend some time relaxing before bed to reduce stress to increase the next day’s relaxation. Enough sleep is prove to be more healthy, and getting s daily ‘restart’ is extremely important.

Spend time just sitting back and enjoying the mountains without worrying about work, home and all of the things on your never-ending to-do list. There’s plenty of great ways to spend time in a cabin: soaking in the bubbling hot tub, watching the birds fly through the mountains from the deck or watching a movie in the theater room. However you choose to spend time relaxing, you will appreciate having some down time. You’ll feel better and be ready for your next day of vacation.
