Dollywood Honors Treasured Traditions Barbeque and Bluegrass

The South is known for great duos, from food combinations to country music powerhouses. Another great duo, barbeque and bluegrass are two of the South’s most treasured traditions, and they’re pairing up once again for the annual Barbeque and Bluegrass festival. Held at Dollywood each summer, the Pigeon Forge event features great food, good music and mountain fun.

Barbeque and Bluegrass begins on May 24 and runs through June 8. During this time, park guests can enjoy some of the most talented bluegrass musicians in the country while sampling the most mouth-watering barbeque cuisine in the region. If you get a hankering for something sweet, try an ice-cold lemonade or Dippin’ Dots on a sunny day.

Musical Performances

The free concert series is included in the general park admission and features more than 250 performances. More than 60 musicians will perform during the 16 day festival including the Lackey Family (May 26-27), Ash Breeze (May 28-30), Della Mae (June 2-3) and Paper Bird (June 5-6).

While the music is a treat to the ears, Dollywood’s delicious barbeque is just what your taste buds need. When you’re ready to try the specialties, head over to Market Square, where you can find the Barbeque Headquarters.

The festival features a variety of sauces, from sweet and savory to hot. With over 50,000 pounds of pulled pork, rib and chicken options along with all the fixin’s for a proper meal, Market Square will make your mouth water with the smells of a good southern kitchen.
