While most visitors to Pigeon Forge plan to spend at least one day exploring Great Smoky Mountains National Park, many folks are surprised to learn that there are several other beautiful parks throughout the city! Whether you want to enjoy an afternoon picnic or a stroll through the forest, these parks offer the perfect opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors. Here are 3 parks in Pigeon Forge that you should visit during your vacation:

1. Patriot Parkpatriot park

One of the most popular parks in the Smokies is Patriot Park , which is dedicated to war veterans from Sevier County. The park has a large walking track. Lining the track are flags for all 50 states and several memorials for local veterans. Patriot Park is home to many events throughout the year, including the Patriot Festival, 4th of July fireworks and the Winterfest of Lights. The parking area is the hub for the Fun Time Trolley, which provides transportation throughout Pigeon Forge for a nominal fee.

2. Wear Farm City Park

Enjoy the recreational facilities at Wear Farm City Park , a wonderful 118-acre multi-purpose park on Wears Valley Road. The park features 5 baseball diamonds, a football field, a basketball court, 2 playgrounds, 3 pavilions, walking trails, concession stands and more! Wear Farm City Park was completed in the spring of 2013 and it serves as the main park for the City of Pigeon Forge. There is plenty of parking available, so bring along a picnic and have a fun afternoon with your family and friends!

3. Riverwalk Greenway

Explore more than 4 miles of trails on the beautiful Riverwalk Greenway that follows along the West Prong of the Little Pigeon River. The trails are open to walkers and cyclists. It starts with a 1 mile section around the old City Park loop behind the Pigeon Forge Community Center. The trail then travels along the river for 1 mile through The Island in Pigeon Forge and then back behind the Convention Center. The final segment is along Butler Street where the trail travels for 1.5 more miles before connecting to the half-mile trail at Patriot Park.
