Barbecue ribs on the grillIf you love great food and fun, then you have no reason not to head to Gatlinburg on Thursday April 26. The annual Gatlinburg Ribfest, Wins & BBQ event heads back to the city to delight locals and travelers alike.

This street fair completely changes the city streets, as people descend on the area to partake in the great food and live entertainment. The event begins at 5 pm and runs until 9 pm that night.

Make sure that you purchase one of the armbands because that entitles you to samples of the amazing wings and ribs available during Ribfest 2012. You can sample the offerings from local restaurants, sit down to listen to some of the live music or just watch one of the contests running during the event. This year, Ribfest has an ice cream eating contest and a hot wing eating contest. If you feel a little daring, you might even want to enter one of the events yourself. Bring a large group of friends and stay in the mountains during the festivities!

The Smoky Mountains area really comes to life with the hot wing eating contest. All Sauced Up sponsors this year’s event. All Sauced Up brings such dangerous sauces as Scorching Screaming and Blazing Bomb to the public. Those that can handle the heat for the longest and eat the most wings can get some great prizes.

Ribfest, Wings & BBQ also has prizes for the best food produced during the festival. Every vendor that participates can win prizes awarded by a panel of esteemed judges. The judges award prizes in seven different categories for both wings and ribs. Stop by and see if your favorite takes home a prize this year. Once you have your fill of the food and entertainment, you can feel good about yourself. Proceeds from the purchase of the armbands go to support the scholarship fund from the Gatlinburg Hospitality Association.
