When is the Dolly Parton Parade?
Dolly’s Homecoming Parade will take place on the first Friday in May. The procession will begin around 6 p.m., although we suggest arriving early to get a good spot!
What is the Route for the Dolly Parade?
The parade will run along the downtown Parkway in Pigeon Forge. The route starts near Traffic Light # 6 (close to J.T. Hannah’s Kitchen) and stretches to Traffic Light # 3 (close to The Track). Since the parade will take up the northbound lanes on the Parkway, regular traffic will be diverted into the southbound lane.
What Can I Expect at the Dolly Parton Parade in Pigeon Forge TN?
Dolly’s Homecoming Parade is a ton of fun because everyone in attendance is in such a good mood as they wait for the guest of honor to arrive. In most years, the parade brings over 50,000 spectators to the Parkway!
Dolly takes the role of the parade’s grand marshall and sits atop a lavish float that is usually towards the beginning of the procession. As she makes her way down the Parkway, Dolly will wave to the crowd and radiate love to her numerous fans.
While seeing Dolly is the highlight of the evening, the parade also features entertainers from Pigeon Forge shows, local marching bands, military veterans, horses, and lots of beautiful floats.
Where is the Best Place to Park for the Dolly Parade?
In past years, we have found that The Island in Pigeon Forge is a good place to park for the parade, since the complex has a large lot and is located right off of the Parkway. Since traffic on the Parkway will be backed up, we suggest taking Veterans Blvd and Teaster Lane to get to The Island.
Another option is to arrive early and eat dinner at one of the restaurants on the Parkway. Bennett’s BBQ, for instance, has tables facing the street, which are great for watching the parade.
What Should I Bring for the Dolly Parton Parade in Pigeon Forge TN?
If you plan on being an early bird (which is highly recommended) we suggest bringing lawn chairs so you can comfortably wait for the festivities to begin. Putting down a chair is also a great way to mark your spot along the Parkway. Of course, you will also want to bring a camera so you can snap the perfect photo of Dolly as she passes by!
