1. Sugarland Cellars
Sugarland Cellars is known for tradition and local history. All of their wines are named after local areas or spots. The building in Gatlinburg uses old barn wood for decoration. They have a beautiful tasting area where you can taste a few of their signature wines. One of the most popular wines is Mountain Laurel, which is a southern muscadine wine that is sweet. The Hellbender is named after a salamander found in the national park and it is a red, dry wine. The most popular wine selection at Sugarland Cellars is the Elkmont wine made from Loganberries.
2. Cades Cove Cellars
Cades Cove Cellars is full of family history. Two families came together to start the business and have over 80 years of wine experience combined. When you visit this winery, you will be able to taste four of their wines. There are also several wine accessories, cheeses, chocolates, and other gifts in the shop you can bring home. The wines are named after local areas and hiking trails as well. Cades Cove Cellars has everything from super sweet to very dry wine, so there’s something for everyone!
3. Little Bear Winery
Little Bear Winery is right off the Gatlinburg Strip, making it easy to get to when you want to go wine tasting! You’ll find traditional wines, such as pinot grigio and merlot. There are also unique flavors you’ll want to try, such as blueberry, rhubarb, and watermelon. Little Bear Winery also has a muscadine wine, one with two berries, and one called All That Razz. There’s a counter where you can stand and taste their wines. You might just find your new favorite at Little Bear!
4. Bootleggers Homemade Wine
Bootleggers Homemade Wine prides themselves in being a small business that wants to produce the best Appalachian wine from fruit. Each batch is bottled by hand, making it a labor of love. You’ll find a table white and a table red wine, as well as holiday versions of these wines. There are also fruit wines, including strawberry, peach, and blackberry. Be sure to grab a bottle when you’re in the store if you want to take it home with you!
